Chapter Overview
Texas is 2nd largest veteran-populated state with 1,700,675 men and women who have served in our nation's military. Our plan is to launch three chapters in Texas. Currently, Mike Shepherd is spearheading the effort to launch in San Antonio, one of VetREST's first four chapters in 2016-17.

Michael Shepherd
Michael Shepherd is a career military officer with 32 years of service in the Air Force. With extensive experience in the intelligence, communications, and information operations communities, he has held a variety of technical, staff, and leadership positions throughout DoD ranging from service in Southeast Asia in the 1970s to developing and conducting Red Team Operations following the 9-11 attacks. He commanded at the squadron level and served as a deputy group commander. Since his retirement from the Air Force he has worked as a senior cyber analyst supporting the Air Force as a defense contractor.
Mike served six years as the vice president for scholarships with the Alamo Chapter of the Armed Forces Communications Electronics Association. During that time over $100,000 in scholarships were awarded to deserving students pursuing technical degrees. He is a member of the Texas State Guard’s Air Component Command serving as their Chief of Staff. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff, AZ, and his MBA in Government Acquisition and Contracting from Western New England College in Springfield, MA. Mike is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM).
