Team

Raelyn A. Balfour - DC Tri-State Chapter Director
Raelyn began a career in the US Army in 1989. As an Intelligence analyst, Raelyn held several positions in various units throughout the military rising to the rank of First Sergeant. It was during her last active duty assignment that she began to understand the affects of PTS, depression and anxiety. While assigned to the Warrior Transition Unit at Walter Reed Army Medical Center she became very familiar with the treatment process and while assigned she had the privilege of meeting MG Dan York. Raelyn shared her experiences and understanding of the process and how she desired to improve and support veterans holistically and to assist veterans in getting to the root cause of their mental challenges.
She can personally speak to the challenges that veterans face with PTS and other mental health issues and seeks to continue to support veterans’ recovery after the military and VA medical process ends. Raelyn’s knowledge of the procedures for treatment and understanding what veterans face after initial treatment and what they may need is an asset to the Vet REST team.
